Devon H. is 41 years old and a kind-hearted gentleman whose smile lights up the room. A resident of Chicago, he spent over a month in the hospital before coming to Generations at Columbus Park. Upon admission, Devon didn’t have balance control, could not transfer from wheelchair to bed, could not stand independently, and had slurred speech. Devon and the staff worked on his goals to restore his strength and improve his functions to live an independent lifestyle.
Personalized Treatment and Therapy Plan
The staff at Generations at Columbus Park developed a care plan for Devon to help him achieve maximum results. Devon received physical therapy that promoted his strength, balance and mobility; occupational therapy that promoted his functionality to perform daily tasks, and speech therapy that recovered his speaking ability.
Devon can now transfer from chair to bed independently, stand with little to no assistance, and his speech is clearer. In fact, he is an avid talker and loves to brag about how much he can do on his own. Devon is now working with the social service department and will be transitioning into his own apartment. He has been at Generations at Columbus Park for almost two years and we will truly miss him as he is such a joy to work with. Devon and his family will always be a part of the Generations at Columbus Park family.
